Coles Toblerone Cheesecake sparks TikTok frenzy

by Mary Sewell

When it comes to buying chocolate to share (or for yourself, no judgment), it can be hard to go past a Toblerone. This is why it’s no surprise a frozen version of the cult sweet treat has gone viral on TikTok, with shoppers desperate to get their hands on it. The Toblerone Cheesecake first began appearing in Coles early last year but has blown up online this week after being shared on TikTok by @alobaker.“Check out what I’ve just seen at Coles – Toblerone Cheesecake. Should I get one of these or maybe one of these,” @alobaker said, gesturing to the Cadbury Dairy Milk Mousse Cake.

“Jeez, I can’t decide.”

The video has since been viewed more than 237,000 times and had more than 250 comments from people salivating over both desserts.

Some joked the desserts must have been invented with “lockdown in mind” and that he should “just get them both”.

“Toblerone cheesecake OMG, it’s so tasty,” one person commented.

“That mousse cake is AMAZING,” another wrote.

The Toblerone cheesecake has gained a cult following since it was released, especially in the UK, where it hit shelves in April this year.

The Cadbury Dairy Milk Cake can be purchased at both Coles and Woolies, while the Toblerone Cheesecake is only available at Coles.

A Coles spokeswoman told news.com.au the supermarket had seen “increased demand” for frozen desserts with “more people at home”.

“Coles had exclusively offered the Toblerone Cheesecake since March last year, and our customers love this indulgent treat,” the spokeswoman said.

“We added the Cadbury Mousse Cake a few months later, which has also been extremely popular.”

It’s good news for Aussies, who in 2018 expressed their disappointment online that Toblerone ice cream had been launched in the UK, but not here.

Toblerone ice cream eventually arrived in freezers in 2020, with excited fans describing the news as life-changing.
